KUALA LUMPUR: Safawi Rasid scored the first hat-trick of his senior career in Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) 3-2 FA Cup win Universiti Teknologi Mara on Saturday but claims he still has more to learn.
Just days after scoring against Tampines Rovers in the AFC Cup, Safawi took his tally for the season to five goals in all competitions with his treble in the third round tie at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam.
Fresh from receiving a call-up to the national team, Safawi opened the scoring with a drive from wide angle, got his second through a deflected free-kick before volleying the third with his left foot in the second half.
The third goal was 21-year-old winger Safawi's pick as his best among the three.
"Among the three goals, I was only satisfied with the third goal," said Safawi, who has already exceeded the three goals he scored in 2017.
"It has given me the determination to report for the national squad. I hope I can contribute to the country through football.

"I want to thank the fans that came for the match and my teammates who gave their 100 per cent during the match. I am extremely happy to have scored three goals for the team, but I am still not satisfied with my style of play."
JDT are unbeaten in five matches they have played in March with the last defeat coming against Vietnam's Song Lam Nghe An in the AFC Cup on Feb 28.
The run of fixtures, which has seen JDT play four of the five games away, has taken its toll on the players with UiTM managing to score twice.
"The players are tired after playing many games in the Super League, FA Cup and AFC Cup," said JDT caretaker coach Raul Longhi.
"We can see that this month we had many away games. But that is not an excuse. We need to have a good attitude when we are controlling the ball.
"We will continue to work hard and focus on upcoming matches. We are also waiting for the arrivals of our two new foreign players in May."
JDT played without the injured Luciano Figueroa on Saturday although defender Marcos Antonio Santos returned to the line-up after missing the midweek game
