KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to collaborate on expertise and information technology.
The collaboration will provide exploration opportunities to develop and support the research in avionic and airport operation fields for both organisations.
Through this information sharing, it will assist MAHB staff to adapt the knowledge and enhance their work expertise.
The same benefit will also be enjoyed by UiTM students as a preparation to elevate their employment capabilities.
MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the airport operator sees this collaboration as a golden opportunity. Apart from the intellectual sharing, this collaboration also opens vast opportunities for students to understand more on MAHB's daily operations and airports maintenance.
"I believe this collaboration is an added-value for students to become more competitive," he said.
He added this collaboration was part of MAHB's corporate social responsibility in giving back to the community, particularly the youth.
UiTM vice chancellor, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Hassan Said noted that the public institution always look forward to collaborating with corporates to give students exposure in preparing themselves to work in the industry.
"This collaboration allows wide-sharing of information and expertise. We are more than happy to work together with MAHB in driving this initiative. We hope there will be more collaborations in the future," he said.
Initially, this collaboration was concluded between MAHB personnel and UiTM Sports Science and Recreation Faculty, which has benefitted the airport's security staff.
MAHB said the collaboration will be further expanded to its other departments from time to time.
Among the expertise exchange include fitness coaching from Air Fire Rescue Service and the public institution's fitness programme. MAHB's engineering division will also provide basic training to UiTM students relating to job scope and engineering exposure to ensure operational efficiency at the airport.
Students can also grab the chance to undertake internship programme at MAHB's network of airports. From the year 2016 until April 2018, MAHB had recruited about 50 interns from UiTM for practical training purposes.
