新型コロナで夕張メロンの需要も落ち込んでいる

夕張市は特産の「夕張メロン」を5000円以上購入した人に対し、市内のホテルや観光施設などで使えるサービス券の配布を始めた。上限の2000枚を配り終え次第終了する。新型コロナウイルスによる需要減で夕張メロンを栽培する農家や観光産業が打撃を受けており、市が支援する。

購入者は送料含めて5000円ごとにサービス券がもらえ、宿泊割引やスキー場のリフト券、日帰り温泉施設の入浴回数券などとして1枚につき5000円相当のサービスを受けられる。

市が総額1000万円の補正予算を組み、需要喚起に乗り出す。20年5月の夕張メロンの初セリでは最高落札額が2玉12万円と、19年の40分の1に落ち込んでいた。サービス券は夕張市民でなくても受け取れるという。
