Smart home gadgets are becoming an essential part of our lives as technology advances.
Revolutionize the way you live with smart home devices! The smart home industry is booming and for good reason. With the advancements in technology, there are now numerous gadgets and devices available to make your home not only smarter and more convenient but also safer and more energy-efficient. Driven by the growing adoption of smart devices, the global smart home market is projected to reach US$205.61 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.3 percent.
In this article, we will take a closer look at the top smart home devices you need to check out in 2023. From small-sized home hubs to indoor gardening units, there’s something for everyone.
Samsung SmartThings Station
The Samsung SmartThings Station is a small-sized hub device that allows you to connect and control various smart home devices at the touch of a button. The SmartThings app gives you full control over your home, while the station doubles as a stylish wireless charging pad that supports 15 Watt charging, which is much faster than most standard wireless charging pads.
The Station has a built-in Smart Button that allows you to activate pre-set routines created in the SmartThings app. Besides eliminating the need to turn devices on and off individually, it provides a more convenient and efficient way to control multiple devices with a single command. This can be very useful in simplifying your daily tasks by, for example, creating a night routine where you can turn off lights, close blinds and lower the temperature with just one tap before going to bed.
The station is also integrated with SmartThings Find, a feature that can detect when other registered devices (such as smartphones, tablets, watches and earbuds) or gadgets attached to a Galaxy SmartTag or SmartTag+ are at home or away. The SmartThings Station will be available in black or white in the U.S. and Korea starting in early February, as per Samsung’s statement. The company has not officially disclosed the price of the device, but they have stated that it will be “affordable”.
Schneider Home
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, Schneider Electric unveiled Schneider Home, a comprehensive solution for home energy management and automation. The product line includes a home battery, a high-power solar inverter, a smart electrical panel, an electric vehicle charger, smart electric outlets and light switches, all can be controlled through its mobile app. This allows for monitoring and controlling energy usage, thus reducing costs and environmental impact.
Users can make more informed decisions about their energy consumption by using a Schneider Home app to control power usage at the breaker or switch and outlet level. Additionally, they can schedule electric vehicle (EV) charging to align with lower electricity rates and program various combinations of outlets, switches and breakers to turn on and off automatically through presets, such as “away” mode.
Setting up a Schneider Home energy management solution can be quite costly, especially for a medium-sized home (between 1,000 and 2,500 square feet) with two EVs. For instance, if you live in Massachusetts, the total cost of such a setup can add up to over US$10,000. It would include various components, such as five Boost batteries to store backup energy for 12+ hours, two inverters, one EV charger, one Pulse smart panel, five connected outlets and 12 light switches. The company plans to launch its new smart home products in 2023, with some expected to be available as early as the summer.
LG Tiiun
The LG Tiiun is a new smart gardening appliance that makes it easy for novice gardeners to cultivate vegetables, herbs and even flowers in their homes year-round. The device features a transparent door at the front and automated temperature and water control. With the LG Tiiun, you can have fresh produce in your home, even if you don’t have a green thumb.
It has two shelves, each of which can hold up to six all-in-one seed packages, along with three different kinds of seed kits. The seed packages contain ten holes for seed germination, allowing users to grow a variety of greens simultaneously. Most seedlings will reach maturity and be ready for consumption or visual enjoyment within four to eight weeks.
The flexible weather control system features an inverter compressor to adjust the internal temperature for optimal growing conditions. The auto ebb & watering system maintains the right moisture levels, and the smart gardening system delivers water to the plants in small amounts throughout the day. When the water tank is almost empty, its ThinkQ mobile app will alert you. The unit also includes an LED light source that simulates the natural light cycle of the sun, and you can control the light intensity remotely using the app.
Designed to blend seamlessly into a living room setting, the Tiiun gardening unit is available in two nature-inspired colors—beige and green. They have a compact, modern design that can be used as a side table or accent piece. It is priced at KRW1.49 million (US$1,260).
As we look forward to 2023, it’s worth noting that smart home gadgets are becoming increasingly popular and essential. With the continuous advancement in technology, we are likely to see even more innovative and useful smart home gadgets in the future, so it’s a good idea to stay updated and try out these devices to improve your daily living.
